Grove Isle
Informational Bulletin
To: All Grove Isle Condominium Association Residents.
Telephone Notification System –
In April the Board approved the use of a system for notifying residents, whether in Grove Isle or away, whenever an event warrants immediate contact regarding an individual building, multiple buildings, or the entire property. This service also can be effectively utilized in emergencies and during the active hurricane season.
Recently, we had occasion to use the system twice; once for an individual building regarding water main shut down and the second time for the entire property regarding interruption of service by our TV cable vendor. Interestingly, the reports generated after a call demonstrate that a high percentage of residents are reached either in person or by answering machine.
It is not the intent of the Board to use this service in a frivolous manner which could result in the service being a nuisance. We will be selective with what is shared. Generally, Adrienne will deliver the voice message. When a resident hears this familiar “sweet & melodious” voice they will realize that an important message is forthcoming. They will immediately know that it is not some pre-recorded sales message.
The Board of Directors is mindful of owner and resident privacy concerns and as such warrants that neither the Association nor its vendor will disclose to any third party any confidential information, in particular contact phone numbers for telemarketing purposes.
The system is designed so that residents may be called in Grove Isle and simultaneously on their cell phone or at a telephone number away from Grove Isle. If you provide the numbers we will call them.
Adrienne has all of the Grove Isle numbers as well as some numbers from residents who are away. If you prefer, you may drop a note to the office with the information. You may also call the office to make updates or changes. The easiest way to make certain that she has all your numbers is to send her an email with the information. Send the email to groveisle@bellsouth.net. Whichever mode you prefer to contact Adrienne please, remember to include your name, building and unit number in your email or note.
We feel that this state-of-the-art means of communicating will greatly enhance our ability to contact our residents in emergency or in warning situations.

Leaving Town
In the month of April we see many of our neighbors travelling north and elsewhere. The Board wishes everyone a safe trip and wonderful summer.
To ensure your condo will be in great condition when you return we are giving some close down tips you may wish to follow. We are also including a Leaving town form which should be completed and given to adrienne in the office. These are available for download below.

For those residents going to a summer residence it is important to “close-up” your Florida unit. By following the helpful hints listed below you will reduce the risk of leaks and other disasters while you are away.
- Shut off your main water valve. This is usually found in your utility room, on the wall near your water heater. Call your maintenance office at 569-5711- if you cannot find the valve. By shutting off the main water valve you minimize the chance of water damage to your unit and/or the ones below.
- Cover each toilet bowl with Saran wrap or cling wrap. Add a ¼ cup of bleach if you like. The covered bowl stays full for months – and cleaner too.
- Turn off the electrical circuit breaker to your hot water heater. Other electric circuit breakers can be left on. Remember NOT to turn off the A/C circuits.
Have your air conditioning system checked by a licensed A/C service person BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE WARM WEATHER. An adequately charged and lubricated system will save many mildew and moisture problems later.
- Change the filter in your A/C air handler at the beginning of each new season. A clean A/C filter helps the unit run more efficiently.
Set your A/C thermostat and humidistat the way you want it before you leave. Write your settings on a 3 x 5 card and place it on the thermostat in case someone is in your unit during your absence.
- Kitchen sink disposal. Pour 1/8 cup lime or lemon juice down your disposal. Follow with ¼ cup vegetable oil and turn on the machine for a few seconds. Add another ¼ cup vegetable oil. The citric acid of the juice will kill most bacteria and the oil drives out water and lubricates.
Please complete the “Leaving Town” form and return to the Association Office so that you can be reached in case of emergency. It is also imperative that the Association have a key to your unit in case of emergency.
- When finishing the “closing up” process please remember to empty your refrigerator. Power-failure could cause food to spoil if left in your refrigerator.
- Before leaving town, PLEASE REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR PORCH OR BALCONY. Items left outside become missiles in a strong storm.
